Last year we welcomed 50 musicians, representing 21 different bands, from all over the country. This year we are hoping to reach even more players, representing even more bands, to provide music across more peaks, and to feature more whole bands, alongside our incredible massed band, during our Saturday concert. Complete this form to play a part.
Provisional Timetable
Friday 21st June
2000hrs – Meet, Rydal, Lake District
2100hrs – Informal Memorial Concert Rydal Cave
2300hrs – Start ascent of peaks
0230hrs – Play atop of peaks
0300hrs – Lighting of Flares accompanied by Last Post and Reveille, National Anthem
0345hrs – Descend peak as dawn breaks
Saturday 22nd June
1200hrs – Meet Brathay Hall, Ambleside
1300hrs – 1700hrs Massed Band event featuring sets from guest bands throughout the afternoon
Evening – Social event
Rydal Cave
Rydal Cave is a large cavern on the north side of Loughrigg Fell, above Rydal Water. This famous lakeland beauty spot is actually man-made, as a result of slate quarrying.
Take the stepping stones through the shallow lake at the entrance (you may even see some small fish!) into the drier floor space inside the cave. Remeber to take your torch so you can see where you are stepping.
Loughrigg Fell
A varied walk taking in a beautiful tarn, views of the fells, and a grandstand view of Grasmere and Rydal water. Some road walking at the end.
